Lily Update

Lily developed a cough on Thursday. It got really bad overnight. I was unable to get her in to the Doctor's office on Friday(they were booked full) so I took her to the ER at Children's Mercy. Originally they told me it would be a 2 1/2 hour wait, but when they discovered how little she was (12 days), they took us in immediately. It turns out she has RSV which is a virus that presents as a cold (stuffy nose, fever) in adults and older children but can be quite serious in infants. She probably got it from Ali (or me or Matt) because we have all been under the weather. They admitted her overnight for observation. She was placed on an oxygen saturation monitor but did not need IV fluids because she was still taking her bottle & producing wet diapers. She maintained normal oxygen levels through the night and continued to eat so they let her come home today. She seems to be doing a bit better. She is still coughing but not as frequently. We will continue to watch her closely & keep everyone updated.
