Our first night home from the hospital was quite a deal! Matt laid down with Ali about 11 pm, I planned to feed Lily & then go to bed. Around midnight, I had already fed the baby & went to get Matt out of Ali's room so we could go to bed. Ali was finally asleep but it was quite a struggle to get her to wind down. Lily was in her bassinet beside our bed but would not go to sleep. She was very gassy & fussy and we traded off holding her trying to get her to sleep but nothing was working. At about 3 am, Lily did seem to settle a little bit at which time Ali woke up crying. We brought her into our room and tried to get her to calm down which she would not do. Then, of all things, our carbon monoxide detector started to alarm! Matt took it down and realized it was just the batteries, so he changed them but by now we were all wide awake. Matt took Ali downstairs to watch TV for awhile, Lily finally fell asleep & eventually Ali fell back asleep on the couch with Matt. Needless to say. . .nobody got very much sleep last night! Thank goodness for Grandma! She took care of Lily early this morning while Matt & Ali napped on the couch & I got to sleep for a few hours. Today Ali has been terrible. . .she's definitely having some adjustment issues, but mostly she has just been overly tired and refusing to nap. I can't hardly wait to see what is in store for us tonight.
